“Maja Ferme, her life is like a fairy tale” read a recent interview in a magazine that’s co-created by incredibly interesting people who are dear to me, but the title is one that the readers want and expect, and far from the truth.

If at no other time, then at least for Christmas and New Year’s, we want to conjure some magical moments and wrap everything in pink-tinted paper. If we do this, everything sells excellently and we are all happy customers and sellers. Well, at least happy for the moment. Until we go on Instagram, Facebook or some other social media and read how happy, rich, and smiling are our neighbours, friends, acquaintances … in short, everyone around us is doing great, everyone is happy, nobody has any problems, nobody knows sadness or pain, much less tears. Then a lot of us ask ourselves: how is it even possible that we are not as happy and great as they are?

It’s simple, the media has its harms and its charms. And if we let ourselves be fooled by brilliant smiles that are a reflection of a moment’s happiness, we hit the reefs. But if we realize that inside their happiness, everyone is also hiding their pains and fighting their own difficult battles, then we can continue to enjoy the media charms and, when that is given to us, be truly happy in those beautiful and unrepeatable moments. And when these moments happen, we should try to enjoy them fully. If we manage to grab a photo, that’s excellent, but make sure that the moment doesn’t escape while you’re doing that.

And now for some charms of the interview:

First of all, congratulations for the birth of your daughter! Do you still remember your first thought when you held her in your arms? Thank you (smile). It was pure happiness and love, the sort of beauty that wasn’t comparable to anything until then.

You can boast with being one of the most recognized fashion designers in Slovenia. How have the first few months been going and in which place is your “job” now? Are you completely “off”? Life is now filled to the very last minute and even more “colourful”. I still enjoy creating, but my time is allocated a lot better than before. I do the same things as before in half the time. The unnecessary things have gone away and I focus only on the things that are truly dear to me.

Which collaboration, for example, would you highlight as the most successful one for your career and what makes you different from the others? In all 15 years of work, there have been many collaborations, and there wouldn’t be one without the other: from collaborating with individuals such as the Italian actress Monica Bellucci and one of the biggest opera divas Ana Netrebko … to collaborations with companies such as Unilever, the airline Elit’Avia, or the biggest TV and production house in Hollywood, Warner Bros Inc. … besides numerous awards, such as the award for the best Haute Couture designer from Slovenia in Paris, the Elle magazine award for the most beautiful evening creation … But I think that the point isn’t in being different, but rather in knowledge, persistence, experience, talent, hard work …

Your fashion shows have always been magical, to what kind of a woman would you yourself attribute your creations? Thank you, this is truly nice praise. Maja Ferme fashion dresses are worn by beautiful, smart, brave, successful women who are also our customers. I am happy that they set their foot in our Maja Ferme salon in the Ljubljana city centre, that they are happy with us and always like to return. For me, that is the confirmation that we are doing something good.

Where do you see yourself in 10, 20 years …? I’ve learned to not plan my life as exactly as I used to, because the real life tends to happen while you’re planning. This is why now I live for the moment, which makes me a lot happier.

GRAZIA adores elegance and a woman’s warmth, you carry both in you and radiate a special energy – do you think that a woman is born with this or is there an influence of family and time? Thank you for such a nice compliment. I think that elegance, a woman’s warmth and that special energy are written in your heart, and that you bring them with you to the world in order to share them and make others happy as well.

Are you the type of mommy who needs to eternalize every moment with a photo or do you live for the moment? I try to live for the moment, but that’s also why I’m lacking good photos … (smile)

Are you planning to live a hidden family life or do you think that there’s nothing wrong with media exposure? Media exposure has two sides, a bright one and the one that’s a little less bright, so it’s very important that you try to sail between the cliffs carefully and don’t shatter the precious ship.

Do you shop more often now than you did before? Oh definitely (laugh), now I’m like Alice in Wonderland, discovering new cute things that I didn’t even notice before …

What is currently your “it” item for the little one? I have quite a few “it” items that we couldn’t go without. You can find them all on my blog majaexplorer under the tab Favourites.

Do you and your husband share a lot of characteristics or do you have to try especially hard to reach a compromise in your views on upbringing? My husband and I are very different but we have excellent communication, so we talk about everything, share our views, and in the end do what is best for our Paris Noa. But raising a child is a big experiment and you never know whether you are really doing something correctly, so we always end up doing what our intuition tells us, and listen to our hearts.

Do you like the Christmas holidays? Luckily, I have very good memories of the Christmas holidays. I realize that for many people who are alone, this is a very difficult time of the year. We gather with our family for a home-made dinner and then listen to songs by the fireplace, and have some fun.

The holidays this year will definitely be different, you’re a family for the first time – how will you make your little girl’s first Christmas magical? It’s true, I’m especially looking forward to these holidays, because our family has been joined by our love, Paris Noa. This year, it will once again be most important for us to spend time together as a family, in harmony and love, everything else is just an ornament.

SLO: “Maja Ferme, njeno življenje je kot iz pravljice” se je glasil intervju v eni izmed revij, ki jo sooblikujejo nadvse zanimive in meni ljube osebe, vendar pa je naslov takšen kot ga bralci želijo in pričakujejo, vendar daleč od resnice.

Če ne drugače, si vsi želimo vsaj za Božič in Novo leto pričarati nekaj pravljičnih trenutkov in zaviti vse v rožnat papir. Če naredimo tako se vse odlično prodaja in vsi smo srečni kupci in prodajalci, no vsaj trenutno srečni. Dokler na instagramu, facebooku ali v kakšnem drugem mediju ne preberemo kako srečni, bogati in nasmejani so naši sosedi, prijatelji, znanci,…skratka vsem okoli nas gre odlično, vsi so srečni, nihče nima težav, nihče ne ve kaj je žalost, bolečina, kaj šele solze. Tedaj se mnogi vprašamo, le kako je mogoče, da jaz nisem tako zelo srečen in odlično kot oni?

Preprosto, mediji imajo svoje čare in svoje čeri. In če se pustimo pretentati zgolj bleščečim nasmehom, ki so odraz trenutka sreče, nasedemo na čeri, če pa se zavedamo da vsakdo skriva poleg radosti tudi svoje bolečine in da bije svoje težke bitke potem lahko uživamo še naprej v medijskih čarih in smo tedaj ko nam je to dano, v tistih čudovitih in neponovljivih trenutkih resnično srečni. In tedaj ko se ti trenutki zgodijo jih poskusimo užiti, če nam uspe narediti kakšno fotografijo odlično, vendar naj vam trenutek pri tem ne uide.

Sedaj pa še nekaj čarov intervjuja:

Najprej čestitke ob rojstvu hčerkice! Se še spomniš prve misli, ko si jo prijela v roke? Hvala (nasmeh). Bila je ena sama sreča in ljubezen, lepota ki ni bila primerljiva z ničemer do sedaj.

Lahko se pohvališ z nazivom ene najbolj prepoznavnih modnih oblikovalk v Sloveniji. Kako potekajo prvi meseci in na katerem mestu je sedaj tvoja 'služba'? Si popolnoma na 'off'? Življenje je sedaj zapolnjeno do zadnje minute in še bolj »barvito«. Še vedno uživam v ustvarjanju, vendar je čas razporejen veliko bolje kot prej. Iste stvari kot prej sedaj opravim v polovičnem času. Odvečne stvari so odpadle in posvečam se samo še stvarem ki so mi resnično ljube.

Katero sodelovanje bi na primer izpostavila kot najuspešnejše za tvojo kariero in po čem si drugačna od drugih? V vseh 15 letih delovanja je bilo ogromno sodelovanj in enega brez drugega nebi bilo: od sodelovanja s posamezniki kot so italjanska filmska igralka Monica Bellucci, ena največjih opernih div Ana Netrebko,...do sodelovanj s podjetji kot so Unilever, letalska družba Elitavia, največja Hollywoodska TV in produkcijska hiša Warner Bros Inc., ... poleg številnih nagrad kot so nagrada za najboljšo Haute Couture oblikovalko iz Slovenije v Parizu, nagrada revije Elle za najlepšo večerno kreacijo,... Mislim pa da ni stvar v drugačnosti pač pa v znanju, vztrajnosti, izkušnjah, talentu, delavnosti,...

Tvoje modne revije so bile vedno pravljične, kakšni ženski bi sama pripisala svoje kreacije? Hvala, to je res lepa pohvala. Obleke Maja Ferme fashion nosijo lepe, pametne, pogumne, uspešne ženske, ki so tudi naše stranke. Srečna sem da zahajajo v naš salon Maja Ferme v centru Ljubljane in so zadovoljne z nami ter se vedno rade vračajo. To je zame potrditev, da delamo dobro.

Kje se vidiš čez 10, 20 let …? Naučila sem se da si življenja ne načrtujem več natančno tako kot sem to počela včasih, saj se tisto pravo življenje zgodi medtem ko načrtuješ. Zato sedaj živim za trenutke kar me veliko bolj osrečuje.

GRAZIA obožuje eleganco in žensko toplino, oboje nosiš v sebi in izžarevaš posebno energijo – se ti zdi, da pride ženska s tem na svet ali gre za vpliv družine in časa? Hvala za tako lep kompliment. Menim da je eleganca, ženska toplina in tista posebna energija zapisana v srcu in da prineseš le to na svet zato da bi jo lahko delil in osrečil tudi ostale.

Si tisti tip mamice, ki mora ovekovečiti vsak trenutek s fotografijo ali živiš za trenutek? Skušam živeti za trenutek, vendar mi zato primanjkuje dobrih fotografij...(nasmeh)

Nameravaš živeti skrito družinsko življenje ali meniš, da z medijsko izpostavljenostjo ni nič narobe? Mediska izpostavljenost ima dve plati, svetlo in manj svetlo zato je zelo pomembno da skušaš jadrati skozi čeri previdno, da ne razbiješ dragocene ladje.

Ali sedaj pogosteje nakupuješ kot si prej? Oh seveda (smeh) sedaj sem kot Alica v čudežni deželi, ki odkriva nove ljubke stvari, ki jih prej sploh nisem videla...

Kaj je trenutno tvoj 'it' kos za malčico? Imam kar nekaj »it« kosov brez katerih ne moremo. Vse najdete na mojem blogu majaexplorer pod zavihkom Favourites.

Ali imata z možem veliko skupnih lastnosti ali se morata posebej truditi za kompromise pri pogledu na vzgojo? Z možem sva si zelo različna, vendar imava odlično komunikacijo, zato se o vsem pogovoriva, izmenjava najina pogleda in na koncu narediva tako da je za najino Paris Noa najbolje. Je pa vzgoja otroka velik eksperiment in nikoli ne veš ali delaš resnično prav, zato se na koncu vedno ravnava po intuiciji in prisluhneva kaj nama veli srce.

Imaš rada božične praznike? Kaj ti pomenijo in kako jih preživiš? Na Božične praznike imam na srečo zelo lepe spomine. Zavedam se, da je za mnoge, ki so sami ta čas zelo težek. Z družino se zberemo na doma pripravljeni večerji in nato ob kaminu poslušamo pesmi in se poveselimo.

Letos bodo zagotovo drugačni, prvič ste družina – kako boš pričarala hčerkici prvi božič? Res je, letošnjih praznikov se še posebaj veselim saj se je naši družinici pridružila naša ljubezen Paris Noa. Tudi letos bo najbolj pomembno da smo kot družina skupaj, v sožitju in ljubezni, vse ostalo so samo okraski.
